Natural History Museum, Oxford. by Robin Wilson (2012) |
In 2012 our main exhibition will be held at Oxford University's Museum of Natural History. The exhibition will be of the Wytham Woods pictures, which have to date come out of our work over the past year as Artists in Residence. We have begun collaborating with local sculptor Simon Clements who is helping create a wood installation to contextualize the images in a space recalling the natural woodlands. We are printing with beech wood-blocks provided by the University from the woods and the finished show will be held in the upper front gallery, which runs the width of the building and overlooks the dinosaurs. The Natural History Museum holds the Wytham Woods scientific collection, which we shall be drawing on for this exhibition, which will also include print-making and carving workshops, guided ecological walks in Wytham and a range of activities linking the exhibition to the woodlands.
Later in 2012 we will be holding our annual Artsweeks exhibition at our usual venue at our Strawbale Gallery in Duns Tew (just north of Oxford). Plans are afoot to finish the roof before then - as we have been promising to do for the last three years at least. In July we will be holding an Exhibition of bookbinding and prints at the Gardens Gallery in Montpellier, Cheltenham and we are running our usual programme teaching drawing, printmaking and bookbinding throughout the year. Details of the courses are included below.
