A NEW GUILLOTINE FOR FLAGSTONE

The New Guillotine Installed

Flagstone Press has just been donated a vast and ancient guillotine thanks to the great kindness of Loisa Hare of First Folio Editions and the Oxford Guild of Printers. Madame Guillotine herself has upgraded her own guillotine to something larger, more ancient and less practical, as is the tradition among printmakers.  We are happy to move up a stage in sophistication from hand-cutting out greyboard book-covers and perhaps with continued practice we will even retain all our fingers. A similar rescue operation is underway to prise a serviceable flatbed press from the hands of a scrap yard. The wonderful Louisa is the prime mover in this, and I will keep you posted as to how we are progressing.

The Big Move
