Great Tit Linocut by Robin Wilson (2011) |
Earlier in the year the OneOak Project run by Sylva kindly invited us us to use some of the 222 year old oak cut down from Blenheim Palace. As a result of this we have been using some of the wood from the tree in our printmaking. Because it is not a dense wood like some, oak is not as easy to carve as box, pear or holly for the purpose of making prints, but nonetheless we are steadily building up a collection of new images for One Oak which we intend to display in their exhibitions throughout the year.
The print above and another by Rosie are currently on display at the OneOak exhibition in the Oxofrd University Natural History Museum. The display, which includes many of the diverse art-forms which have resulted from this project are all on show in the upper gallery of the museum at the front end and overlooking the wonderful hall containing the dinosaur skeletons.
