With a few days of heavy printing action under our belts using the new press, I can say without any reservations at all that this is an excellent machine for print-making from lino-blocks. The colours come out evenly across the entire surface of the block, and it is not necessary to use as much ink on the block as the baren/spoon method required. The result is that much greater detail is achieved and our more finely carved smaller blocks are printing far easily and more consistently than ever before. More importantly perhaps (when an exhibition is imminent), this flat-bed press speeds up the process enormously. I have just been able to run a three-block print edition of Cancer pagurus in a single short afternoon rather than over several days.
